Multiple regions face fires and environmental emergencies

Multiple regions across Spain, Argentina, Mexico, and Ecuador have experienced significant fires and environmental emergencies.

In Spain, a large fire near the Nostián waste plant in A Coruña was potentially caused by falling catenaries; emergency services worked through the night to control the blaze. Other incidents occurred in Bueu, affecting a residence and nearby forest, and in Zamora, where a fire was quickly extinguished. In Berrocal, a major forest fire has devastated the cork industry, destroying up to 95% of the local cork oak groves.

Argentina has faced several emergencies, including a workshop and five vehicles destroyed by fire in Puerto Madryn, and an apartment fire in Córdoba that led to dozens of evacuations. In Mendoza, the Zonda wind exacerbated fires caused by human activity, while in San Rafael, grass fires required significant intervention. In La Adela, authorities worked to contain an oil spill on Route 22 to prevent contamination of the Colorado River.

In Mexico, a boat fire in Punta de Mita was suppressed by firefighters and locals before it could spread to other vessels. In Ecuador, a massive forest fire at Cerro Casitagua near Quito affected approximately 300 hectares, prompting a coordinated response from residents, firefighters, and the military.
