Zamora: Fonfría bypass approved for A-11 highway development

The Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has granted provisional approval for the Fonfría bypass project in the province of Zamora. This 3.9-kilometer stretch represents the first phase of the future A-11 Duero Highway between Ricobayo and Fonfría.

With an estimated budget of 19.1 million euros, the project aims to improve road safety by diverting traffic away from the current route through the town. The initial design features a single roadway with two lanes, though it is engineered to eventually serve as the right-hand carriageway of the completed A-11. The plan also includes a new partial cloverleaf connection to facilitate access to Fonfría’s urban center from the east.
