Zamora residents protest for improved railway services

Approximately 500 people gathered in the Plaza de la Constitución in Zamora to protest for improved railway services. The demonstrators are specifically calling for the reinstatement of the ‘early morning train’ to Madrid, a service that was discontinued during the coronavirus pandemic.

Protesters and representatives from the Association of AVE Users (Ausave) highlighted that current delays and lack of early services are negatively impacting daily life, work schedules, and family time. They noted that the lack of reliable transport is contributing to population loss in the region.

The movement is seeking daily round-trip services connecting Puebla de Sanabria, Zamora, and Valladolid. The demands have received unanimous support from all five political parties represented in the Zamora City Council, including Izquierda Unida, the Socialist Party, the People's Party, Vox, and Zamora Sí.
