Zamoyski Museum hosts lecture on antique clock conservation

The Zamoyski Museum in Kozłówka will host a lecture by master watchmaker Piotr Łukasiński on September 20 at 1:00 PM. Łukasiński, who runs the ‘Dworek’ Clock Conservation and Furniture Renovation Workshop, will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the profession of a watchmaker and conservator of antique clocks.

The presentation will cover the tools and skills required for working with precision mechanisms, the distinction between clock repair and conservation, and the diversity of historical timepieces. Topics include tower, hanging, floor, table, pocket, and wristwatches, as well as regional European designs such as Black Forest cuckoo clocks, French Comtoise, and Dutch Staartklok clocks.

This event is part of a project to conserve the C. F. Rochlitz tower clock mechanism located on the north tower of the Zamoyski Palace in Kozłówka. The project is funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage through the Culture Promotion Fund. Admission is free.
