Zane Smith released from medical center after heavy NASCAR crash

Zane Smith was released from the infield care center following a heavy crash during the NASCAR Cup Series Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway. The accident occurred on lap 131 during the second stage when Smith’s No. 38 Ford struck the outside wall in Turn 1.

Front Row Motorsports later attributed the incident to a mechanical failure, stating there was “definitely a rotor problem today to say the least.” While the impact was significant, USA Network confirmed that Smith was awake, alert, and walking. He did not provide a statement to the media following his release from the medical center.

The crash marked the eighth caution of the race. Other incidents during the event included involvement from drivers such as Bubba Wallace, Chase Briscoe, and William Byron, as well as a separate brake failure that ended the race for Ryan Blaney.
