Zane Walker arrested after multi-day knife-wielding crime spree

A multi-day manhunt for 29-year-old Zane Walker ended in his arrest following a series of alleged violent crimes in the New England region.

Police allege the spree began on August 6, when Walker allegedly broke into a residence on Grieve Lane, threatened a woman with a hunting knife, and stole her car keys. He is also accused of forcing entry into a caravan at the Glen Innes Showground, where he allegedly threatened campers with a knife to steal money and the keys to a Dodge Ram utility vehicle.

Following the theft, Walker allegedly led police on two separate pursuits, including one involving a vehicle with a caravan still attached. After losing sight of the suspect in bushland near Yetman, officers were able to locate him on Sunday afternoon following a community tip.

Walker has been charged with 10 offences, including robbery with an offensive weapon, vehicle theft, break and enter with intent, and police pursuit. He appeared in court on August 10 and made no application for bail.
