ZANU PF launches campus renewal and veteran empowerment initiatives
The ruling ZANU PF party has launched several initiatives aimed at supporting students and veterans ahead of the 23rd National People’s Conference. As part of the President Emmerson Mnangagwa Campus Renewal challenge, implemented by businessman Justice Mayor Wadyajena, Chinhoyi University of Technology will host scholarship competitions. Winners will receive all-inclusive scholarships, cash prizes, laptops, and mobile devices. The project also includes infrastructure developments such as a campus safety headquarters and improved ablution facilities.
In a separate event at the Harare International Conference Centre, the government held an interface with the children of liberation struggle veterans. Minister of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs, Senator Monica Mavhunga, encouraged the group to safeguard political independence through unity behind the President’s Vision 2030 agenda. During the gathering, participants received tractors, trucks, and financial support. While organizers framed the event as empowerment, critics characterized it as a patronage gathering designed to secure political loyalty.
