Zanzibar President launches $52 million hotel investment

Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi has highlighted the archipelago's growing strength in the global tourism market following the launch of Anaya Hotels & Resorts Zanzibar and Kappa Senses Zanzibar in the North Unguja region.

The investment in these two new hotels totals over $52 million and has already created 371 jobs for local residents. President Mwinyi stated that the government is focused on creating an enabling environment for investors to ensure that local resources and opportunities benefit the citizenry.

Zanzibar is currently receiving more than 100,000 tourists per month, with a strategic goal of reaching one million tourists annually. The President noted that increased flight activity at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport reflects this growing interest. Additionally, the new developments are expected to provide a market for local agricultural and fishing products, boosting domestic trade and income.
