Zaperoco Fest celebrates Canary-Venezuelan ties in La Laguna

The Zaperoco Fest returned to the Plaza del Tranvía in La Cuesta, La Laguna, drawing approximately 2,000 attendees to celebrate the cultural ties between the Canary Islands and Venezuela. Held as part of the Canary Day of Migrations, the event featured music, traditions, and a variety of culinary offerings.

Gastronomy served as a central attraction, with 12 food stalls, two food trucks, and a dedicated Venezuelan chicha stand. Attendees were able to sample traditional dishes including arepas, empanadas, hallacas, cachapas, tequeños, and pabellón criollo. Fran Hernández, the Councilor for Citizen Participation of the La Laguna City Council, noted that the festival serves to celebrate the shared history and diverse community within the municipality.
