Zapopan authorities seize clandestine warehouse for adulterated alcohol
The Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office dismantled a clandestine warehouse in the El Batán neighborhood of Zapopan, Jalisco, allegedly used for the production and storage of adulterated tequila and whiskey.
The operation, conducted on October 29, originated from a search for a stolen 2025 Honda XR190L motorcycle. Investigations into the vehicle led authorities to obtain a judicial warrant to search the property, where they discovered a large-scale illicit operation.
Authorities seized ten 1,000-liter drums filled with what appears to be ethyl alcohol, along with three empty containers of the same capacity. Other items confiscated include approximately one hundred empty jugs, eleven pallets of tequila bottles, 101 boxes of containers designed to look like tequila and whiskey, and 80 sacks of containers. The site also contained various labels and packaging for commercial brands of wine, spirits, and liquors, which were reportedly used to misrepresent the counterfeit products as original brands.
