Zapopan removes nearly 1,500 abandoned vehicles

The government of Zapopan reported that 1,495 abandoned vehicles were removed from municipal streets during the first 100 days of the relaunch of the ‘El Último Viaje’ program. Of these, 895 units were removed by their owners following official notifications, while the municipality used tow trucks to relocate 600 vehicles to storage depots.

Mayor Juan José Frangie and Mobility and Transport Director Mercedes Cruz Vázquez stated that the initiative has cleared approximately 8.8 linear kilometers of public roads. The program has covered 267 neighborhoods, with the highest number of interventions occurring in Colli Urbano and Constitución. Authorities noted that citizen reports regarding abandoned vehicles have increased by 125 percent in recent years. The strategy aims to improve mobility, visibility, and the urban environment by reclaiming spaces occupied by derelict vehicles.
