Latin American municipalities implement school and road safety measures

Various municipalities across Latin America are implementing measures to prepare for the upcoming school year and manage urban infrastructure. In Venezuela, the Ministry of Education plans to relocate students from 91 schools damaged by recent earthquakes, though rights organizations like CECODAP are calling for audits to ensure safety before the September 14 start date.

In Mexico, authorities are addressing diverse urban needs: Tepetitlán is conducting fumigation in over 40 schools to control mosquito populations; Ramos Arizpe is performing school maintenance; and Zapopan and Hermosillo are executing programs to remove abandoned vehicles from streets. Meanwhile, in Riobamba, Ecuador, a new mobility plan will manage traffic near schools.

Road maintenance is also a priority in several regions. Ushuaia, Argentina, is conducting winter road repairs using milling techniques to fix potholes caused by ice. In Santa Fe, Argentina, utility works and road repairs are causing traffic diversions. In Colombia, La Ceja and Iles are focusing on road safety education and awareness campaigns for students and drivers.
