Zapopan shooting kills cousin of singer Alfredo Olivas
On the night of Monday, August 10, 2026, an armed attack occurred at Tacos Fermín, a restaurant in the La Cima neighborhood of Zapopan, Jalisco. Two gunmen entered the establishment and opened fire on patrons, resulting in two deaths and four injuries.
Among the victims were relatives of regional Mexican singer Alfredo Olivas. Authorities identified one of the deceased as Jesús Aarón Olivas Cázares, a cousin of the singer, while another relative, Vicente Trinidad Olivas Ortiz, was among those wounded.
The Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office is investigating the incident as a targeted attack potentially linked to organized crime, vehicle trafficking, or connections to the victims' state of origin. Security footage captured the 52-second assault, showing the attackers entering and firing at close range before fleeing in vehicles. While two suspects have been identified through video evidence, no arrests have been made at this time. Authorities are currently analyzing security camera footage and investigating a vehicle and firearms recovered during the process.
