Zaragoza cleaning strike dispute intensifies between CGT and local government

A labor dispute regarding cleaning services in Zaragoza has escalated into a political confrontation between the CGT union and municipal official Tatiana Gaudes. Gaudes, the municipal counselor for Environment and Mobility, accused the union of failing to attend negotiations and using citizens as “bargaining chips” ahead of planned strikes during the Pilar festivities.

The CGT union has denied these claims, accusing Gaudes of “lying about the negotiation” and attempting to protect the multinational company FCC Medio Ambiente. The union maintains that they participated in a mediation session at the Aragonese Service of Mediation and Arbitration (SAMA), but alleges that FCC management was the party that walked away from the table after refusing to extend discussions through the weekend.
