Zastavac Waterfall officially opened in Travnik as part of tourism project
The Zastavac waterfall on the Kozica river in Mehurići has been officially opened to the public following the completion of renovation works. This development is part of the ‘Via delle Cascate’ project, which aims to support sustainable tourism development in central and northwestern Bosnia.
The project is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented by CISP – Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli. With a total value of 1.8 million euros, the initiative creates a tourist route connecting Travnik, Jajce, and Bihać, focusing on the valorization of natural, cultural, and historical heritage.
In the Travnik area, 450,000 KM has been allocated for specific activities. Out of 54 approved projects across the three partner municipalities, Travnik received 20 projects, totaling 733,957 KM in grants. These projects cover sectors such as agrotourism, crafts, creative industries, and hospitality. The renovation of Zastavac is part of a broader effort to enhance the Biljanska dolina tourist offering, alongside other natural sites like the Kozice, Jasenice, and Ugrića waterfalls.
