ZAURUS opens smartphone physical destruction service in Komae

Gear Co., Ltd. has announced the opening of its ZAURUS Komae branch on September 1, 2026. The new location, situated within the PC Works Komae store in Komae City, Tokyo, specializes in the physical destruction of smartphones for secure data disposal.

The service addresses privacy concerns by ensuring personal information such as photos, videos, and contacts are unrecoverable. Following Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications guidelines, technicians safely remove lithium-ion batteries before physically destroying the circuit boards. The devices are then processed through a specialized shredder at the ZAURUS destruction center, reducing them to fragments of 4mm by 15mm to prevent any possibility of data retrieval.
