ZAURUS smartphone physical destruction service to open in Hiratsuka

Gear Co., Ltd. has announced the opening of its ZAURUS smartphone physical destruction disposal service at the Unidy Shonan Hiratsuka store in Kanagawa Prefecture, scheduled for October 14, 2026.

The service focuses on the secure disposal of mobile devices by addressing concerns regarding personal data leakage. Staff members utilize specialized repair expertise to safely remove lithium-ion batteries before physically destroying the circuit boards. Following this, devices are processed through a dedicated shredder at the ZAURUS destruction center, reducing them to fragments of 4mm by 15mm.

This method follows the physical destruction guidelines recommended by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications for high-level confidential data. In addition to disposal services, the location will offer iPhone repairs and general smartphone consultations.
