Zaventem police station evacuated after grenade discovery

A police station in Zaventem, Belgium, was partially evacuated on Saturday, August 8, after residents brought a discovered grenade to the facility. The individuals reportedly found the explosive device in a bucket while performing garden cleaning work.

Upon arrival at the station around 5:00 PM, police officers instructed the residents to place the bucket carefully on the floor and leave the premises. Authorities established a security perimeter and evacuated the reception area and nearby offices. The military's explosive ordnance disposal service, Sedee, was called to the scene to secure and remove the device. No damage or injuries were reported.

Following the incident, Zaventem police issued a public safety reminder, urging citizens not to touch or move any explosives they might find. Officials advised people to immediately alert emergency services and evacuate the surrounding area instead.
