ZBEÜ Hospital receives European accreditation for PET/CT Unit

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (ZBEÜ) Hospital has received European accreditation for its Nuclear Medicine PET/CT Unit. The accreditation was granted by the European Board of Nuclear Medicine (EBNM), which operates under the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), for the 2026-2030 period.

ZBEÜ Hospital is currently the only facility in Turkey to appear on the EBNM's "Accredited Departments" list. The evaluation process covered several critical areas, including clinical applications, testing protocols, quality management systems, radiation safety, patient safety, and the competence of both specialist and technical personnel.

While the accreditation serves as an international indicator of quality and professional standards, officials noted that it does not replace the legal permits or licenses required by Turkey's Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NDK) to provide PET/CT services.
