Zcash sees price volatility amid rising network hashrate and mining interest
Zcash (ZEC) is experiencing significant market shifts, characterized by both price volatility and a resurgence in mining interest. The asset recently traded near $1,320, representing a 22% decline from its late-September peak of approximately $1,693. While the price has fallen below its 20-day moving average, it remains above longer-term 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day averages, maintaining a broader bullish alignment.
Simultaneously, the Zcash network has seen a notable increase in activity. The network hashrate has more than doubled since January, reaching 27.9 GSol/s in September 2026. This growth is driving interest in specialized hardware, specifically the Bitmain Antminer Z15 Pro. This ASIC miner is designed for the Equihash algorithm and is positioned as a key tool for the Zcash comeback, as mining Zcash has reportedly shown higher revenue per megawatt-hour compared to Bitcoin.
