Zcash hits eight-year high amid ETF optimism

Zcash (ZEC) has experienced a massive price surge, reaching its highest levels since 2018 and exceeding $880. This rally is largely driven by optimism surrounding a potential spot ETF. Grayscale, a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group, has filed an amendment with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to convert its Zcash Trust into a spot ETF, which would trade on the NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH.

The surge has been accompanied by significant activity in the derivatives market, with ZEC perpetual futures open interest nearly doubling to approximately $1.8 billion. While the price increase is substantial, analysts note that high leverage and elevated funding rates could lead to increased volatility or liquidations.

Beyond the price action, the Zcash community is preparing for a critical governance vote regarding network block speeds and emission models. The vote, which includes a snapshot for eligibility, aims to determine the future technical structure of the privacy-focused network.
