Zdeněk Hřib nears completion of villa in Prague

Zdeněk Hřib, the leader of the Pirate Party and former Mayor of Prague, has nearly completed the construction of a villa in the Kyje district of Prague 14. The property, which includes an 86-square-meter house and a 331-square-meter garden, was purchased in 2015 for 4.2 million CZK, prior to his entry into high-level politics.

Real estate experts estimate the value of the new construction at approximately 25 million CZK. Hřib stated that the project is financed through a mortgage of 11.5 million CZK, noting that all financial information has been properly disclosed in his public asset declarations. While the house now has a facade, windows, and doors, making it potentially habitable, Hřib indicated that moving in is not imminent due to his heavy workload.

The construction process involved legal challenges, including a dispute with the previous landowner regarding contract conditions. This matter was resolved in Hřib's favor by the District Court for Prague 9. Additionally, the project faced local scrutiny regarding the closure of a portion of a sidewalk.
