Zdeněk Jahn, Green Party candidate, faces police financial investigation

Police are investigating the financial affairs of Zdeněk Jahn, a candidate for the Green Party in the Prague 3 municipal elections. Reports from the investigative website Odkryto suggest that Jahn’s various bank accounts have seen turnovers totaling nearly 200 million CZK over several years.

Jahn, a well-known activist against illegal billboards, has denied any wrongdoing. He maintains that his funds, totaling approximately 7.5 million CZK including investments, were earned legitimately through previous employment in the corporate sector and as an official at the Ministry of Transport and the Technical Administration of Communications (TSK). He explained that he manages multiple accounts to optimize interest rates and noted that some cash deposits were for his elderly father.

Investigators are also looking into Jahn’s former role as a property management specialist at TSK between 2020 and 2023, specifically regarding his involvement with public contracts. Political opponents have called for his removal from the candidate list, while leadership within the Green Party has stated that any personal or personnel consequences will be decided by the party.
