Zdeněk Pohlreich visits Malý Janek brewery in Central Bohemia

Chef Zdeněk Pohlreich visited the Malý Janek brewery and restaurant in Jince, Central Bohemia, as part of the television program ‘Ano, šéfe!’. The establishment is owned by former Prague councilor and MP Jiří Janeček, who has faced financial difficulties since the brewery opened in 2020.

Pohlreich noted several operational issues, including a chaotic atmosphere, unorganized menus, and inconsistent food quality. During his tasting, he criticized dishes such as the Caesar salad, ribs, and goulash. The kitchen is currently led by a former military colonel named Zdeněk.

Despite the initial critical verdict, Pohlreich ultimately awarded the kitchen staff a single star to recognize their efforts. Following the visit, owner Jiří Janeček stated that the experience provided a new perspective on the importance of food production alongside their beer, noting an increase in customers since the filming.
