ZDF-Fernsehgarten celebrates 40th anniversary in 2026

The ZDF entertainment program ‘ZDF-Fernsehgarten’ will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026. The milestone year will feature special themed editions focusing on the show's history, milestones, and memories since its debut in the mid-1980s.

The live broadcast on September 6, 2026, will be held at the Lerchenberg in Mainz and will follow the theme ‘Powergarten,’ focusing on strength, endurance, and athletic achievement. Hosted by Andrea Kiewel, the episode will feature guests including German Strongwoman champion and Guinness World Record holder Sina Ruppenthal, professional golfer Alexandra Försterling, and multi-time world champion para-athlete Mathias Mester.

In addition to musical performances and comedy, the program will include culinary segments by chef Tarik Rose and insights into the sport of Jugger. ZDF plans to supplement the television broadcast with digital content and behind-the-scenes coverage via online channels.
