ZDF-Fernsehgarten celebrates 40th anniversary with summer Christmas theme

The ZDF variety show ‘Fernsehgarten’ is celebrating its 40th anniversary during its 2026 season, which runs from May 10 to September 27. The program features various themed episodes, including a ‘Schlagerparty’ scheduled for August 30 featuring artists such as Vanessa Mai and Semino Rossi.

In a notable departure from seasonal norms, the August 23 episode featured a Christmas theme despite summer temperatures in Mainz. The production included artificial snow, Christmas trees, reindeer, and holiday music. Moderator Andrea Kiewel explained the decision by noting that the show does not broadcast during the December holiday period, stating, ‘If we don’t come to Christmas, Christmas must come to us.’
