ZDF Fernsehgarten stages 90s Party while ‘Immer wieder sonntags’ prepares final season

On Sunday 12 July 2026 the ZDF‑Fernsehgarten returned to the Mainzer Lerchenberg for a “90 s Party” themed edition. Host Andrea Kiewel welcomed a lineup of retro acts including rapper Nana, Sweden’s Rednex, boy‑group Caught in the Act, Captain Jack, Masterboy and other performers such as Guildo Horn & Band and Magic Affair. The two‑hour live show, broadcast from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., combined music with cooking, gardening and health segments, continuing the programme’s tradition since 1986.

Meanwhile the rival ARD‑Saturday‑morning show “Immer wieder sonntags”, presented by Stefan Mross, announced that 2026 will be its last season. The series, on air since 1995, will conclude for financial reasons with a final “Extra‑Finale” on 6 September and a “Best‑of” episode on 13 September. The end of the long‑running folk‑music programme marks a shift in the Sunday‑TV landscape that once featured a ratings duel with the Fernsehgarten, now described as a friendly hand‑over between the two hosts.
