ZDF series ‘Die Bergretter’ announces season 18 return

The ZDF television series ‘Die Bergretter’ is set to return for its 18th season this autumn. The new season, consisting of seven feature-length episodes, will premiere on linear television on October 29, with streaming availability on the ZDF Mediathek starting October 22.

The season premiere, titled ‘Stimmen der Vergangenheit’, follows the rescue team as they discover a voice recording related to the death of a climber, which may reveal details about a prior dispute. The core cast, including Sebastian Ströbel and Luise Bähr, will return for the new episodes.

In conjunction with the series' popularity, approximately 400 fans recently participated in the 14th ‘Original Bergretter Fanwanderung’ in the Schladming-Dachstein region. This year’s event in Ramsau am Dachstein featured a new integration of real-life emergency services, including the Ramsau am Dachstein Mountain Rescue and ÖAMTC Air Rescue, providing attendees with insights into actual rescue operations alongside the fictional portrayals.
