ZDF show ‘Bares für Rares’ features antique jewelry and bronze sculptures
Recent episodes of the ZDF treasure hunting show ‘Bares für Rares’ featured various antique items brought in by contestants from Germany.
Thomas Backes, a participant from Cologne, presented a 1990s jewelry set from the ‘Bonadea’ collection by the Spanish company ‘Carrera y Carrera’. The set, which includes gold-designed hands adorned with diamonds, was brought in on behalf of a friend. Expert Patrick Lessmann noted the pieces contained a total of 0.30 carats of diamonds in the clip-on earrings and an additional 0.35 carats in the bracelet.
In another segment, Thomas Kurkamp from Hiddenhausen offered a bronze figure of a naked athlete with a rapier for 300 euros. Expert Colmar Schulte-Goltz identified the piece as a work based on a design by Berlin artist Schmidt-Felling, likely created between 1910 and the 1920s. The sculpture features a natural stone pedestal and remains in good condition with its delicate sword intact.
