ZDF to feature European cold cases in new international crime special
ZDF is launching a special edition of its crime program, titled ‘Aktenzeichen XY. . . International’, which will feature four criminal cases from across Europe with connections to Germany.
One featured case involves the 2016 disappearance of Sidney Lute, a 19-year-old Dutchman. After his plans for an army career fell through, Lute went on a spontaneous trip. While police located his mobile phone in Strasbourg and confirmed he had purchased a train ticket to Colmar, his trail went cold in the Alsace region.
The program also revisits the 1997 murder of Manfred Meisel, the owner of the Bierkönig beer garden. Meisel, his eight-year-old son Patrick, and a zookeeper were shot to death at a finca in S'Aranjassa, Mallorca. The motive for the killings remains unknown.
