Zebra and Elecom unveil STYLUS 2WAY pen for paper and iPad

Zebra Co., Ltd. and Elecom Co., Ltd. have released the STYLUS 2WAY, a hybrid ballpoint‑stylus pen that writes on paper with gel ink and operates on iPad screens without switching modes. The device combines a traditional ball‑pen tip with a capacitive stylus tip, allowing seamless transition between analog and digital note‑taking.

The pen is priced at ¥16,500 and will be available from July 31. It measures about 160 mm in length, weighs roughly 16 g, and features a built‑in battery lasting up to seven hours of continuous use. Charging is via a USB‑Type C cable, and a blue LED on the barrel indicates power status. Development took about five years, with over 70 chip‑ink combinations tested and more than 400 ink prototypes examined. The product comes in black and white, includes a replaceable ink cartridge, and supports select iPad models such as iPad Air and certain iPad Pro versions.
