Zee5 secured the official streaming rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in India, offering live coverage for a three‑month subscription of ₹799. The platform also launched a dedicated sports TV channel and provides commentary in English, Hindi, Malayalam and Bengali.

During the Group C match between Brazil and Morocco at MetLife Stadium, Zee5’s servers were overwhelmed by high traffic. The live stream stopped after seven minutes, paused for about two minutes, and then resumed, leaving Indian viewers unable to rewind the missed action. The outage prompted complaints on social media, but the service was restored in time for the remainder of the game.

The deal came after Indian broadcasters faced steep FIFA fees, with the final rights price reduced to $35 million. Zee5’s partnership includes advertising breaks during mandatory hydration periods, a practice that has drawn some fan criticism.
