Indonesia electric vehicle industry expands through shows and sales growth

The Indonesian electric vehicle (EV) industry is seeing significant activity across sales, exhibitions, and policy advocacy. In September 2026, the BYD Atto 1 emerged as the top-selling vehicle in Indonesia with 4,840 units, surpassing traditional internal combustion engine models and light commercial vehicles like the Daihatsu Gran Max Pick Up.

To further promote the sector, Dyandra Promosindo and the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (PERIKLINDO) will host the PERIKLINDO Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) 2026 from October 29 to November 1 at the Jakarta International Expo. The event will feature over 38 brands, including BYD, Wuling, MG, and various electric motorcycle manufacturers, aiming to facilitate industry networking and consumer education.

On the policy front, PERIKLINDO is urging the Indonesian government to extend incentives to commercial electric vehicles, such as trucks and buses, in the 2026 budget. Chairman Moeldoko noted that while passenger car incentives have been a focus, expanding support to the commercial segment is essential for reducing logistics costs and lowering the consumption of subsidized fuel.
