Zeekr unveils ultra-durable seat foam for Zeekr 009

Chinese automaker Zeekr has unveiled a new multi-layer seat foam construction designed for its 2026 Zeekr 009 model. To demonstrate the material's durability, the company conducted extreme stress tests, including driving over a sample of the foam with nine of its own electric vehicles—totaling approximately 20 tons—and subsequently running over it with a 20-ton Farizon Homtruck H.

The new material utilizes a sandwich structure consisting of an elastic top layer, a high-density responsive middle layer, and a soft bottom layer. Zeekr claims this design provides 1.5 times better vibration damping than standard automotive seat foam. Following the heavy load tests, the foam maintained its structural integrity and continued to demonstrate effective vibration damping capabilities.

The Zeekr 009 is a luxury electric MPV featuring high-end amenities such as Nappa leather upholstery, rotating second-row seats with a zero-gravity mode, and advanced massage functions. The vehicle's base version includes a 310 kW electric motor and a 108-kWh battery, offering a range of up to 740 km under CLTC specifications.
