Westerscheldetunnel begins preparations for crack repair

Preparations are underway for the repair of a 30-meter crack in the eastern tube of the Westerscheldetunnel. Excavators have begun removing soil near the Borssele entrance to reduce pressure on the tunnel structure and improve safety during the upcoming repair work.

The actual repair process is scheduled to begin on January 11 and is expected to last approximately four months. Project officials noted that while the work is visible, it is being conducted on top of the tunnel tubes to minimize impact on road users.
