Zeeshan Ansari returns to Uttar Pradesh Ranji squad
Leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari is set to return to the Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy squad after a six-year absence. The 26-year-old, who last played for the state in 2020, earned his spot following a strong domestic performance.
Ansari’s resurgence was driven by a standout campaign in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he recorded 21 wickets in eight matches at an average of 16.52. Previously a member of India’s 2016 Under-19 World Cup squad, Ansari had seen his career progress stall, leading him to play league cricket in Kolkata and serve as a net bowler for the state team.
The upcoming squad, led by Karan Sharma, includes players such as Rinku Singh, Yash Dayal, and Priyam Garg, with Abhishek Goswami and Chikara named as stand-by players.
