Zeewolde pioneers seated wingfoiling for adaptive sports

In Zeewolde, Michael-Robbert Brans is pioneering a way to participate in wingfoiling despite a physical disability. Because Brans is missing his right leg, he cannot stand on a board as is standard for the sport.

Working with instructor Bjorn Verheul of WingXperience, Brans is developing custom equipment to allow him to wingfoil while seated. Since no ready-made solutions exist for seated wingfoiling, they are experimenting with custom-made seats and modified boards. The process involves trial and error to find a way to balance the use of an inflatable wing and a hydrofoil while maintaining stability in a seated position.
