Zejtinlik Cemetery hosts ceremony for 108th anniversary of Salonica Front breakthrough

A state commemorative ceremony was held at the Zejtinlik Serbian Military Cemetery in Thessaloniki to mark the 108th anniversary of the breakthrough of the Salonica Front. The event was attended by Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, Serbia’s Minister for Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Issues, and Radan Ostojić, the Minister of Labor and Veteran Protection of Republika Srpska.

Representatives from the Serbian and Greek armies, as well as members of the government delegation for the preservation of liberation war traditions, were also present. During the ceremony, wreaths were laid at the grave of Đorđe Mihailović, the cemetery keeper, and attendees visited the memorial ossuary.

In her address, Minister Đurđević Stamenkovski emphasized that the unity and perseverance of Serbian soldiers in their struggle for freedom serve as a vital lesson for current generations. She called for the preservation of peace and freedom, stating that while soldiers died for their homeland in the 20th century, the responsibility of the 21st century is to live for it and ensure the continuity of their memory.
