Nintendo announces Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake for Switch 2

Nintendo is celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, scheduled for November 5, 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. The remake features overhauled visuals, symphonic music, expanded dialogue, and improved controls. Technical details indicate support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and HDR when used in docked mode with a compatible television.

To mark the anniversary, Nintendo will also launch a special-edition Zelda themed Nintendo Switch 2 console on October 29, 2026. This edition features a unique gold and green design but reportedly lacks the user-replaceable battery found in standard European models. The anniversary celebrations include new amiibo figures, a global concert series, and a live-action film slated for 2027.

Pre-orders for the game have already begun at major retailers like Amazon, Shopee, and KaBuM!. In Brazil, the Zelda remake has notably outperformed GTA 6 in initial Amazon pre-sales, though analysts note this may be due to the availability of physical editions for Zelda versus digital-only codes for GTA 6. High demand for the limited anniversary console has also led to reports of scalpers listing units on secondary markets for significantly higher prices than the official MSRP.
