Zelené údolí: Retrospective on the Czech television classic

The classic Czech television series ‘Přátelé Zeleného údolí’ (Friends of the Green Valley) is being highlighted as a significant piece of national media history. Produced between 1979 and 1980 in an Ostrava studio, the series premiered on Czechoslovak Television in March 1981.

Written by Jaroslav Müller and directed by František Mudra and Vojtěch Skopal, the twelve episodes follow the friendship between a city boy, Pavel, and a forest ranger, Horyna. The production utilized authentic locations in the Beskydy mountains, specifically the Velký Lipový valley near Morávka, as well as sites in Northern Moravia and Silesia to ensure a realistic depiction of nature.

While considered a classic by Czech Television, the series currently lacks rights for internet streaming.
