Zelenilo Beograd reports nearly 300 million dinar loss
Nikola Jovanović, director of the Center for Local Self-Government, has reported that the public utility company ‘Zelenilo Beograd’ recorded a loss of nearly 300 million dinars in the first six months of this year. This follows a deficit of 240 million dinars from the previous year, leading to concerns regarding the maintenance of green spaces, parks, and playgrounds in Belgrade.
Jovanović attributed the financial instability to insufficient funding and criticized the city leadership, including Mayor Aleksandar Šapić, for failing to ensure the necessary conditions for the municipal system to function. He also noted that the current director, Dušan Tojagić, has been serving in an acting capacity for years without a transparent selection process. The Center for Local Self-Government is advocating for the creation of a unified Belgrade holding company to consolidate municipal utilities for more efficient management.
