Zelensky addresses UN on Russian aggression and diplomatic tensions

During a speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky identified Russian President Vladimir Putin as the primary obstacle to ending the war in Ukraine. Zelensky described Putin as ‘Patient Zero’ of global instability, arguing that his continued pursuit of conflict poses a risk to the entire world. He also noted that trade with Russia provides the financial means to prolong the war.

Zelensky reported that the Russian military lost approximately 249,000 personnel in the conflict between January and August, citing video evidence to support these figures. He warned the international community of the consequences should the conflict expand beyond Ukraine's borders.

Separately, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung criticized Zelensky for breaching a confidentiality agreement regarding the transfer of two North Korean soldiers. The soldiers, captured by Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region, had been transferred to South Korea. President Lee stated that the public disclosure of this transfer by Ukraine could negatively impact diplomacy, national security, and the stability of the Korean Peninsula.
