Zelensky announces peace negotiation developments and ceasefire

President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced significant developments in peace negotiations for Ukraine following discussions with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Zelensky revealed that a future meeting involving Ukraine, the United States, and European partners is being planned, though the specific location has not yet been determined.

In conjunction with these diplomatic efforts, a comprehensive three-day ceasefire was established, effective from September 5 to September 7. This ceasefire involves a commitment to halt direct offensive and defensive military actions along contact lines, including the suspension of artillery, tactical missiles, and long-range UAV attacks.

Reports indicate the ceasefire was requested by the United States to ensure the safety of the US delegation, including Kushner and Witkoff, during their diplomatic mission which includes consultations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Jared Kushner noted that the US administration is seeking a long-term, sustainable solution rather than a temporary freeze of the conflict, maintaining continuous contact with Ukrainian security and diplomatic officials.
