Zelensky meets Trump at White House as war in Ukraine intensifies

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on July 28, a day that also marks the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime advocate for Ukraine in Congress. The visit comes after the two leaders’ recent discussion at the NATO summit in Ankara and follows a surge in Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities, while Kyiv has stepped up its own long‑range attacks on Russian military infrastructure.

The timing underscores Ukraine’s push for stronger U.S. air‑defence aid, expanded defence cooperation and continued economic pressure on Moscow. The meeting is being watched closely as it could shape the next phase of U.S.–Ukrainian support amid the escalating conflict.
