Zelensky seeks Putin talks at G7 as Trump says he met Zelensky again

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he has offered Russian President Vladimir Putin a meeting during the G7 summit in France, proposing that the talks take place while U.S. President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron are present. Zelensky stated, "We sent a message that we are ready to meet with Putin at the G7 because Trump and Macron will be there," hoping to use the gathering to push for an end to the full‑scale war that began in February 2022. Putin, however, dismissed the proposal, saying he "does not see any sense in personal negotiations" and has not indicated readiness to negotiate.

In a separate statement, former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed he had already met with Zelensky and would see him again on Tuesday, adding that Washington is currently focused on the situation around Iran and that the Ukraine issue is now "in the rear‑view mirror." Trump said, "We already had a meeting, it went very well... I will meet him again later today."
