Ukraine faces massive Russian strikes as Zelenskyy calls for trilateral talks

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned of an imminent, massive Russian offensive targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure and logistics. This warning follows a series of heavy strikes involving approximately 70 missiles and 130 drones, which have caused significant casualties and damage across multiple regions, including Kyiv and Chernihiv. In Priluki, a residential building was destroyed, resulting in at least 14 to 18 deaths, including several children.

Zelenskyy emphasized that intercepting Russian ballistic missiles remains Ukraine's primary defensive challenge, highlighting an urgent need for more Patriot interceptors and ammunition for F-16 aircraft. To counter drone threats, Ukraine has deployed approximately 20 AI-equipped cannon turrets near Kyiv.

In the Black Sea, Zelenskyy accused Russia of a combined sea and air drone attack on two commercial vessels within Bulgaria's economic zone, noting that one vessel sank. He stated that these actions are part of a Russian strategy to make maritime routes unsafe for commercial navigation.

Diplomatically, Zelenskyy expressed hope for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia in October to discuss ending the war, stating that the Ukrainian negotiating team is prepared. Meanwhile, in the United States, Donald Trump indicated he would study the possibility of establishing a U.S. military base in Lithuania.
