Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticizes international partners over perceived lack of engagement
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has criticized international partners, claiming that Europe and the rest of the world have been ‘on holiday’ during a critical period for his country. He stated that over the last two weeks, political engagement from supporting nations has effectively paused due to summer breaks.
Zelenskyy noted that Russia exploited this perceived lull to intensify attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, including strikes aimed at disrupting the start of the new school year. He described the Western approach as ‘textbook diplomacy,’ suggesting that partners prioritized seasonal breaks over urgent security needs.
The criticism comes as Kyiv faces intensified drone and ballistic missile bombardments. Ukraine has repeatedly requested increased deliveries of ammunition for air defense systems to counter the ongoing Russian invasion.
