Ukraine denies involvement in Nord Stream sabotage amid new arrests

Ukrainian authorities and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have denied any involvement in the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline sabotage. Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine was not involved in the operation, even as a concept, and stressed the importance of maintaining trust with European allies through transparent, multilateral investigations.

These denials follow reports from German prosecutors suggesting the explosions were carried out on orders from the Ukrainian state. The investigation has led to the arrest of several individuals. In Croatia, police arrested a Ukrainian citizen, identified as Vladimir Z., on a European arrest warrant. He was reportedly working as a consultant for the film 'Snake Island', a political thriller directed by Dag Laiman that dramatizes the sabotage.

Previously, Italian authorities arrested another Ukrainian national, Sergii K., who was subsequently extradited to Germany. The case remains a sensitive geopolitical issue, as Kyiv seeks to distance itself from the incident to protect its strategic partnerships with European supporters.
