Zelenskyy imposes new sanctions on Russia's military-industrial complex
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced new sanctions targeting Russia's military-industrial complex and individuals who maintain ties to the Russian state. According to a statement from the President's office, the measures include people in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories who support Russia, as well as former Ukrainian political and public figures currently residing in Europe who maintain Russian connections.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine aims to align these domestic sanctions with those of its international partners. These developments follow recent large-scale Russian attacks involving ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, which caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure in Kyiv, Odesa, and Chernihiv.
In response to the ongoing strikes, Zelenskyy reiterated the urgent need for missile defense capabilities. He specifically called on international partners, including the United States, to expedite decisions regarding the provision of missiles for the Patriot defense system.
