Özçelik-İş Union Rejects Fake Payroll Claims, Pursues Legal Action

The Özçelik-İş labor union issued a written statement denying recent media reports that its president, Yunus Değirmenci, and the executive board receive unusually high salaries. The union said the payroll documents cited in the reports are forged, with figures altered or omitted, and that the alleged expense items actually relate to official meetings, organizational activities, domestic and foreign contacts, and protocol duties.

The union announced that it has launched legal and criminal proceedings against those responsible for obtaining, falsifying, and disseminating the documents. It also noted that a criminal complaint had previously been filed with the public prosecutor’s office and that the case is being closely monitored. The statement warned that organized attempts to damage the union’s reputation will not be tolerated.
