Zeljko Obradovic returns to coach Panathinaikos, plans EuroLeague overhaul

Serbian coach Zeljko Obradovic has returned to lead Greek basketball club Panathinaikos after a 14‑year absence. He announced ambitions to restore the team to the top of both the Greek league and the EuroLeague, citing full freedom over roster decisions and a budget that will "break the banks."

Obradovic’s transfer targets include Canadian forward Trey Lyles, though the player prioritises an NBA return, and other potential signings such as NBA‑experienced Dennis Schröder, former EuroLeague forward Isaac Bonga, and free agents Otis and Youssou Nourkiti. The club is also monitoring the situation of Serbian guard Bogdan Bogdanović, who is linked to the NBA's Chicago Bulls.

The coach’s comeback has generated massive fan interest, with thousands gathering at the OAKA arena for his introductory press conference, underscoring the symbolic significance of his appointment for Panathinaikos supporters.
